The Hat without the Blazer

Fallon? On my website?

I bid you adieu, sir. HAVE A FINE DAY.

So the OP of this thread says wearing a hat with short sleeves "doesn't look good" but then @Seggy goes on to say that one guy wearing a hat while the other is not looks "unprofessional", which I agree with. I would personally rather look dorky with both having them on or off than unprofessional and wish whatever company I worked for clearly states how to wear the uniform so there's no option for one guy wearing something different.

Freight is great.
I fly passengers on a pretty regular basis, too. I'm just trying to give the JC Hat Mafia coronaries. ;)

I do abide by my company's uniform standards (with the exception of a North Face on freight trips, but even the CP doesn't care about that), but I will admit that I thought the commuting pilot I saw walking down the jetway with "Beats by Dre" around his neck was very unprofessional. And that's saying a lot when even a freight dog thinks you look like hell. :)

I'm all for mandating coat (one coat, the blazer) and hat, year round, coat possibly optional due to climate/weather.

Also, if your sunglasses dangle from your uniform, you're doing it wrong.

Insane on mandating the coat year round (except of International Flights).

Insane.

Do you wear the hat if the Captain isn't?

WHO CARES!!! Being a professional goes way beyond the hat you wear or dont wear.
That's exactly it. I've never had to wear a hat at any job I've worked for (only one airline had it, it was optional, and you'd look damn kooky wearing it if you weren't an older captain based in CLE). And yet, flying non-sked to 6 continents with little (and sometimes no) support, a lack of a hat has never made a difference. As long as you conduct yourself professionally and respectfully, it's not an issue. I don't see why any company would have separate uniform standards for international flying*.

*But, if that's how it is at that company, that's how it is.

I carry my hat in my bag and mimic what the Captain does when it comes to wear. I will caveat this with the fact that the Captain will have to say "departure brief" 8 times before I do anything if I had to wear my hat. (just kidding about the last part).
