"Later, 'Bro!" (1986-2015)

”…trusting ze process…”
Today, SkyWest will fly its last revenue Brasilia operation. After this, it's all ferries to the boneyard, or to whomever is purchasing the things.

(For those of you who don't know, I had always wanted to fly the Brasilia since I was a little kid and saw it taxiing around Oxnard, CA. I thought it was cool then. I'm lucky. I got to do it.)

If you were lucky enough to fly this thing out west, then you know what I mean when I say it was an incredible experience and privilege.

If you weren't, well, I'm very sorry that you missed out on layovers on the beach, warm California sun, long days, long nights, going to "interesting" places like Arcata, Fresno, Bakersfield, Chico and some not so weird ones like San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara and Carlsbad.

Later, Bro. It was fun. Thanks again.

I got to fly one with different paint and full of boxes in the back. Fun airplane. Hopefully some of them will find another life at another carrier. It would be sad to see them all scrapped.

It won't be too long until the prop 121 passenger op's are all gone.

Not to rub salt in the wound - all done on the 200 now :(

The bro was a great airplane to fly. I'm glad to have gotten some time in them. I'm sure they will find there way into the freight platform. Its are great box hauler with it's speed and capacity.

I was jumpseat on a 200 yesterday LAX - SAN and that crew looked dog ass tired, leg 4 of 6, hard to replace the bro.

Brazil > Canada

I don't care what anyone says, Crescent City and Arcata are probably going to be the best airports I fly into with an airliner.

Left 360 on final at 800 ft to let a company Brasilia depart opposite direction? Sure... no problem.

Hand flown ILS into Monterey with nasty crosswinds down to minimums... most fun instrument flying I've had the opportunity of experiencing.

I was off for two weeks once, an eternity by modern standards, and my first leg was SFO-MRY with the conditions you describe. "Welp, let's see if I remember how to do this." Very rewarding.

I only ever had the privilege of flying on Brasilias as a passenger, but I wouldn't be where I am now if I hadn't spent years watching these fly around SBA and dreaming of flying one. I'm sad to see them go.

(Man, and 4 years ago at this time, Shuttle Endeavour was in orbit, making her own "flight into history"! Now I'm getting all sentimental.)

I'm grateful for the friends I made and the experiences I had but the airplane wasn't my favorite thing to fly around. It definitely made me a better pilot though.

RIP Brophus.

A few of them are parked here at HYI in front of Berry Aviation. Def ex United Express Bro's, set up for freight now. I'll snap a pic next time I taxi by them.

I used to refuel e120s for ASA, thought they were cool as hell. Only got to fly the crappy jet version.
