Dispatching Software

Hey guys kind of a different question for everyone. My current operator is looking to get some new software for dispatching/releasing flights. There is a couple programs out there that we are eyeing, but I figured I would ask on this forum to see what y'all currently use and the pros/cons to the products you use.

We use the Sabre Airline Solutions (formerly known as Bornemann) suite of products. From a dispatcher's perspective, it can be a great program. It all depends on how much of it's functionality you choose to use.

On a side note, does anyone know what WX program MIT/NASA developed? I was on a 'field trip' to Endeavor's dispatching office, and they were using a program that can show overlays of pretty much anything. I thought it was sierra hotel.

It's still what you would call experimental. It's not very user friendly for the mission profile here in the states, oh and the sweetheart deal usually comes with lido charts... Gag.
It is not experimental.....at all. There have been some vast improvements made to their GUI. Not is a terrific dispatch program, it's just European. You are not forced to use LIDO charts either----that is completely separate. There is actually a large international carrier here in the states that uses LidoFlight.

As I work for a large international carrier that uses Lido for flight planning, I'll just say this... I really really really miss Navtech.

I currently use NavTech. Good layout for release building flows. Excellent diversion feature. Pretty much have everything you need on the plan screen. Nice plotting box tool that shows routes against selected features IE: restricted areas, sigmets, center boundaries. Also, the program will talk to other programs for the right price.

LIDO! It's expensive, overly complicated, over engineered, way more info than you'll ever use.

Yes, it is made by the Germans, how did you know?

If things go the way I hope, DL will be getting Jepp, and hopefully build our own GUI similar to the old DUI. Should know this year.

I am not too thrilled with the Jepp Engine....it is seriously one step above an abacus.

I'm in this boat. It's a pretty impressive tool as far as its capabilities but it takes a lot more effort to get just what you want than other systems I've used. It's also extremely finnicky as far as your inputs and some of the errors it throws on a regular basis are ridiculous.

Also, be very careful what you wish for when you ask for a homegrown GUI...

Ive worked with Navtech, Sabre Dispatch Manager, LIDO, Pheonix (EDS), and Sabre FWZ.

LIDO and FWZ are considered a next gen type flight planning system, of those 2, I personally prefer LIDO.

If I had to choose a favorite out of those 5, it would be Navtech.
