Airtran gone

Well this got weird.

Exactly. Which is why this merger wasn't successful.

For those who asked, my class date hasn't happened yet. A few hundred of us were still flying on the AirTran side when it shut down, and it's taking three months to get everyone into class. We're getting paid to sit idle until then. I've put in a request for a long-term leave of absence, but if that's not approved, @ZapBrannigan will be moving up a number. ;)

So your considering holding out on a LOA till you can hold ATL then?

Sorry to hear what happened, I know we have our disagreements, but I still hate to see the rug pulled out from under like that. Whatever you choose, Good Luck.

Honestly, I don't really know why I'm trying to hold on to the number. I can't imagine a set of circumstances where I'd actually go back. I just figure it can't hurt to have it, so why not?

I flew with another one of your coworkers from the Air Tran side who is probably leaving too.

Granted, you don't hear a lot about it because your overlords have the social media thing on lock-down.

What's he planning on doing?

They're Nazi-like about social media. My understanding is that they've already fired and suspended a few people for social media comments. Another guy got a threatening letter from the legal department for using an avatar of the new heart logo Photoshopped to have a crack in it. For the life of me, I can't figure out why people like the CULTure at this place.

How do they find out so fast? Is people ratting other people out? Or do they also have designated people that scan through employer fb profiles? privacy settings can block this right?

I'm not very tech savvy in this area.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I don't keep up with that stuff like I used to. With the cult-like atmosphere, though, I wouldn't be surprised if it was narcs.

How would you handle it if one of your employees was doing something similar on social media?

I would ask them why they're unhappy with the company and see if something could be done to change their opinion. Of course, that's unlikely to be an issue, since I don't expect my employees to go years at a time without a pay raise. I also don't monitor my employees' Facebook pages after they're hired, so I would probably never know, anyway.

Can they use FB at work?

Like selfies at the workstation?

I got burned for posting a picture of MX write up to my facebook page. Somebody (who is no longer a FB Friend) reuploaded the picture and tweeted it with a hashtag about the company. We apparently have social media people who monitor that stuff. They alerted the CP who traced it back to the guy who posted it... who burned me. And I got a call from the CP (while still on probation I might add). In his defense he was pretty cool about it, and I learned a lesson about posting ANY identifiable markings in a picture (including the restock number of company forms!) and nothing came of it.

You are only as "private" as your absolute "least private" friends but, of course, you already know this.

He was very disenfranchised with what happened and the new culture. I'm not really sure where he's planning on going at all.

Probably don't know any better. It's supposed to be the best place on earth.

That's why you don't post stuff that might get you in trouble. If I do, I hope one of y'alls would say, "hey stupid, TAKE THAT DOWN!"

We've got a fairly lenient social media policy.

It makes sense though.

The more you try to hide, it deeper underground (and uncontrolled) it festers.
