Christmas Tie

Now that it's over and I can't be called a Grinch when I bring it up. Does anyone else think "Holiday Specific" ties are un-professional?

Also what about going too far? This year I saw a pilot with a santa tie, some odd looking green and red epaulets and he topped the ensemble off with a santa hat.

The green epaulets were some charity thing and was company approved. I agree with you, and don't wear anything different during holidays.

Nothing wrong with wearing it. Kids are traveling a lot during this time. Wearing a Holiday tie can make one much more approachable and memorable for a little one on their first airplane ride.

Yeah, the epaulets were approved... just cost $10 to get them.

I don't mind the holiday ties, but I just don't like being called a Grinch if I don't wear one.

I didn't fly all month so it was a non issue for me this year. There are some holiday ties that would be subtle enough to still pull off and look professional, like a small patterned Xmas tree. But this cartoon large in your face xmas stuff, just looks trashy.

Considering they may be getting on an ex-Piedmont 767-200 or TWA MD-88 that was built in 1984, I would worry about a tie being trashy. Once again, the little kids love it.

I think being 80 pounds over weight with a seriously baggy shirt is unprofessional. A holiday tie is fun and is one of the only chances we have to show some personality with our digs.

A lot of times the 80lbs overweight goes hand in hand with a crappy Xmas tie.

I'm no pounds overweight and still can't find non-baggy uniform shirts. My tailor loves me.
