Like I said it's not you I am speaking directly towards. In one of your earlier posts it kind of came off to me that the Envoy group as a whole was taking out their earlier frustrations on Republic, XJT, and Compass. Now do I think it's a crappy deal and everyone should vote no? Certainly. The thing I may have become frustrated about in the spring was how people were going about selling a yes or no vote. I will admit too, that I was probably a little STW group happy before. I can concede to that, I think a lot of us can actually. I have no problem though.

Warped as it may be, I'm not playing the "abandon my decent paying job to a bottom feeder for maybe some advancement" game. I know that's short sighted, but the possibility of career advancement if I go to one of those other places simply isn't worth giving up what I have now to gamble.

I'm not for sure bailing in Nov '15. But the wife and I decided to give this place another year to see how we feel. I'm a firm believer in the fact that we all work for sucky regionals, but its incredibly frustrating to put this much work into being good at what I do, only to see opportunity go elsewhere because someone is willing to do it for less.

Right, wrong, other, reading threads like this make me want to throw my computer out the window and then rage quit. I've actually been trying to spend less time on this amazing forum because of how this subject raises my blood pressure. I get that the situation is reality and I'm not going to change it, but if it keeps going this way, maybe the best solution is to remove myself from it.

Honestly, yes.

If I was paid $40 mil and underperformed id have a really hard time with that. My material life would certainly be better, but I'd be beating myself up all the time because I wouldn't be living up to my own expectations.

You should have seen me as a hockey goalie after a loss back in junior hockey. Heck, even @roundout probably saw that in intramural hockey in college. I don't take it very well when I underperform.

There are several places that are in a much better situation right now. The new hires will not have the same deals as the guys that are already on property. It is a "good" place for the senior guys, as they will be moving out quickly, but that is about it.
 
And let me expand upon my point slightly further.

I recall reading a good article that had some real research behind it that concluded there was a certain range of money, dependent upon the individual's age and family situation, that once you surpass, your happiness and sense of worth and satisfaction with your life in general no longer relies on money.

It might be that you continue to gain some amount of happiness with more money, but it no longer relies on it.

The amount was something like $60-80K for a single person and slightly more for a family income with kids but basically the gist of it is, beyond $100K, those who continue to be much happier with more money tend to be vastly more materialistic.

Of course it's not a blanket statement and obviously poor people can't be philanthropists like wealthy can, but when you think about it, when this brad holt, whoever he is, wakes up in the morning, is he really doing that much better than you or I? He's going to take a shower, poop, eat breakfast, do something, eat again, feel tired after lunch, eat dinner, do something else and go to bed.

Private jets, mansions, boats, and the like may not cancel out the feeling any individual has of having completely and publicly failing at accomplishing some project, or running an organization, etc.
