Part Time Airline Pilots

Define butthurt please. Is it continuosly reliving something that happened in one's life 2 years ago or is it making fun of someone who does that EVERYDAY? I am pretty sure I am not the one who is butthurt.

BTW Didn't you work at Colgan?

I've let that go now. And no, I was at the original Pinchanickel. I left before the real mess began.

Yes. I mentioned pay specifically, not retirement etc. I don't know what UAL and DAL retirement is, it's probably better than SWA I would imagine. But on a pay-only basis, converting SWA trip hour into a comparable salary is tricky but I do believe they come out a little ahead even today. Strictly on a pay basis.

Still sure about that?

Actually, I don't particularly disagree with any of this.

Man do we ever have some disunity going on at B6 right now. The pro ALPA people are pissed at the No voters, and vice versa. The bus guys (some of them, and not the majority) are talking about throwing the 190 guys under "the bus" and decoupling the 190 pay rate. The committee guys are disillusioned because they are going to lose their jobs effective Tuesday.

It's ugly, and going to get worse!

It'll take some smart and experienced leaders to put it all back together again after the vote concludes. But you'll be in a better position by far.

That corner he is backing into is getting closer and closer.

It's funny hearing a Capt making 80 something an hour say he can't afford the paycut to 1st year Delta or United pay. When I mention that you get 16% placed in your 401k without contributing anything, pay less for better Healthcare, and the healthly profit sharing checks employees are receiving, the wide-eyed look is priceless. Not to mention if you get assigned a short staffed aircraft and sign up for operation rolling thunder.
3 years behind on your paper log book? Better get started!

I agree with @GypsyPilot on this one. The airlines are too much BS to put up with if you don't care about the money. Do what I'm planning to do next year: buy a small airplane and have fun with it. Forget the airlines. That's a way to make a living, not to enjoy yourself.

Hey bud, let me know if you need an instructor...

Once the Union talk starts my book comes out......Seriously, nice day, nice crew, and it all grinds to a halt when the complaining starts. Seriously, just cause your crash pad buddies feed off of it doesn't mean everyone does. (Just a general statement).

It's only really bad right now because we have an active union election. It closes tomorrow, so there will be a ton of talking about it followed by (I hope) a period of calm.

Also I think ALPA throwing 190 guys under the "bus" would be a cheap way to a perceived victory. Chop 190 pay while spreading it out over the majority (320) pilots. Definitely in the play book. Company can wipe its hands clean, "hey we paid you well but this is what ALPA wants..."

I hear ya. Our 190 rates shouldn't be in comparison to regional 190s. It should be compared to other 100 seat aircraft at major airlines. But many guys see it as an RJ, and are willing to pay it as such if they can trade that for higher pay on the 320.

All I'm saying is that it could get interesting around here.

Tl; dr: it's not an RJ.
