Air India goes off runway...after fuel emergency

An Air India flight made an emergency landing on Sunday (January 05) night in pink city Jaipur, after the pilot noticed that the aircraft was running short of fuel.

While landing, one of the aircraft's wings was damaged and its tires had burst.

We had some guys go over and fly for SpiceJet...let's just say they were less than impressed by the quality of the local pilots. The locals like to make it difficult on the ExPat pilots, just from what they said.

...With the tire busted, the pilot managed to make a safe landing in the middle of the runway.

I guess those durn trees were growing in the middle of the runway. Just can't trust Mother Nature anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this airport has an instrument procedure...

And it's been dancing with heavy fog the last couple of days. If that picture of the wing was taken the day of the landing, well, that's some pretty unaccomodating weather for a visual.

This might be one of the best airmanship stories ever.

I'm not sure about weather at the time, but my understanding is it happened the night before this photo was taken.

Like I said, can't wait to find out what happened. Good or bad, it'll be one hell of a story.
