Call me old fashioned...

Pokey Plane!

Never understood the Pokey. Loony Tunes, now THAT I understood!
The Asian persuasion bit me early, I was trading all Japanese Pokemon cards when it was "Pocket Monsters" and hadn't been made in English yet. The white kids used to make fun of me, until all those Asian girls grew up and I was the only white guy with seniority. Seniority is everything, get there first! :)

A Flag carrier and home every night to boot!

I thought for sure they did the immigration transport. I used to see the in KIWA all the time. Then when I journeyed south I saw them in KTUS.

TUS is their base, with their office about a mile from me. Their head guy used to run the CIA cover op up at MZJ back in the 70s. At IWA, a different contractor was running the MD-80s doing the immigration stuff.

Ryan Air was the player when I was there. Have no idea who is doing it now. When I had to take my students up to TUS for night landings they seemed to be the only ones operating on the field.

Yes, same here on who is doing it now..Im not certain. Was trying to remember the name, and you're right, it was Ryan. Sierra Pacific does alot of USFS contract work, and you'll see them at ABQ and other places around the southwest.

Gar Thorsrud, who's son runs the Sierra Pacific op now, like I said used to run Intermountain Aviation up there at MZJ when it was a CIA cover. Their "public" face was dropping smokejumpers near forest fires for them to fight, their "cover" was dropping CIA agents in places down south/central America and the like. Their company brochure was a great double entendre with the company's motto: "Total Air Support for Remote Operations"

Sierra Pacific used to fly a number of 580 Convairs, as well as DHC-6s. We had an FA here on JJC for a little bit who had started with them back in their 580 days.

You have pretty much lost all credibility with me.

I had any credibility with you? :)

I'll admit to California One looking pretty awesome. I will give them this - they at least have some originality, and will do something different (visually, and otherwise). But purple canyon blue is straight out of View from the Top.

I preferred mustard to the blue, but given how many airlines use a predominantly white (that's racist!) paint scheme these days, I really admite and respect Southwest's use of color.

Man, the old U.S. Airways black livery is miserable hot.

It'd be neat for Delta to do some "this is where we came from" paint jobs.

Delta Airlines BeginningsScott Airport - Tallulah, Louisiana

Home of Delta Airlines?

Delta.Airline.Jet.jpg
Folks around here claim that Delta Airlines got its early beginnings as the home of an agricultural experiment station which first used airplanes to control cotton pests.

Built in the late 1920's by Standard Oil Company, the building housed a US Experimental Station in the early 20's that began flying mail for the US Post Office, and soon started a flying service which evolved into Delta Airlines.

Madison Parish considers itself the home of Delta Airlines, and the original airport building, Scott's Field, still stands near Tallulah, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings.

Delta should put a pelican on the plane, or maybe a crawfish! ;)
