For Sale Piper Apache, perfect multi-time builder

Hi All,
I've decided to move up to a bigger twin, so I'm looking to sell my current one.

I'm a no-• kind of guy so I'll give you the straight info. The asking price I'll be putting on her on trade-a-plane and controller is $33k, my minimum fixed price is $28k.

She's currently undergoing annual, and I'm not expecting any real squawks -- I've replaced, overhauled, and repaired quite a few things the last couple years. =)

Students looking to go Airline may be particularly interested in this offer -- for the purpose of building time in a multi, I've leaned her out at 5500' to shaking and then enrich until smooth, at 21"/2100rpm she'll burn right about 10.5gph total (just over 5 per side). That gets an airspeed of about 110kts. So it's excellent for pure time-building.
The Apache is extremely docile for a twin, and I've taken her to full break stalls many times in practice.
Let's say you buy this twin right after annual, hammer out all the hours you need/want, and then sell her "quick" assuming a loss of 10% off of your purchase price to get her out the door. Here's a real-world look at owning this twin:
Purchase/Loss difference if sold before next annual: $2,700
Insurance (assuming you're instrument rated and take liability): ~$1,400? My most recent insurance was quoted at $780 for liability, but I already have my hours in type. =)
Fly 100hrs at $6/gal: $6,300
One moderate "ahhh wtf" maintenance item: $1,000
100hrs worth of oil will be about ... 14qts or so, so $84
So assuming this 100hrs multi will cost: $11,484
So that's $115/hr
Lets say you double down with someone else, split the cost and make it $60/hr.
One of the cheapest twin rentals I've seen is $240/hr, average seems to be closer to $300.
PM me for logs or more details for anyone interested.

Nice looking airplane - if I didn't have twin boys starting pre-school I'd consider this. I have two hours in an Apache - they really do fly docile, and the Piper Cub wing makes landing it super easy. I had fun flying it.

Thought this might of bee. 4150P at AKR that is for sale also. A 180hp Geronimo conversion. About $7k more.

Nice looking bird. 150 or 160 engines?

10 yrs ago the insurance on a $40k Apache was 2x more than a $100k Twin Comanche. I don't know what it is now, but nothing has gotten cheaper.

How long have you had this? Do you happen to know where it was 20 yrs ago?

That's interesting. The Twin Comanche kind of has a reputation for pilots not being able to handle it single engine. I've never heard that about an Apache.

The only thing I've heard about single engine ops in the Apache is that you may as well feather the "good" engine too so you at least crash under control.

The Geronimo conversion on the other hand does pretty good on one engine.

Well lets be honest, that's most light twins.

I seem to recall that the "published" SE numbers for the -150 are better than the PA44. It's been a few years, but that sticks in my mind.

As for the insurance, IIRC the agent said it was due to parts availability of the shrinking Apache fleet. If it got bent, there was a greater risk of totaling because it couldn't get fixed.

My policy runs $1300 for the year with minimal value for the airframe, I have the original PA-23-150 configuration and SE performance is negative until you drift down around 4000 msl on the standard pressure chart.

That's still really good to a light twin though. I think the pa31-350 is right around there at max gross to.

That's a nice looking plane. The Apache is one of my favorites, nice and spacious and decent performance. Easy to fly, too.

Well I landed one single engine on my 1st multi training flight. Not a problem maintaining altitude in good ole WI during the summer.

Times: about 800 left, 1800 right, 6000 airframe, based at Waukegan (KUGN). It is an original 150hp Apache.

The annual inspection just finished: compressions good, props good, gear good. I'm not going to fix all the little gotchas and nice-to-fix at annual, so I've set the price at a hard $20,000. If someone wants to buy her at that price just for the two O-320s be my guest and chop her up.

Nice plane and price.....

About to get my CMEL in Tom's at CAD. Wish I had a place to put it and build multi.

@ozziecat35 @FlyByWire22 ready to go thirdsies?

C'mon @SteveC I know you're just itching to go slower :)
