Playing with the telescope tonight, got a hand held picture of Saturn after a lot of effort!

they have all sort of adapters, the ones for the point and shot type of cameras are just an adapter mounted in place of eyepiece where the camera`s lens/zoom can be moved in an out of it, the adapter keeps the camera in place with a bracket screwed on the tripod mount.

They even make them for iphones.

The best thing is to get an old and cheap DSLR and a whole lens/eyepiece adapter.

I use to be really into setting up my telescope and spend nights watching the skies, back where I lived there was really only interesting things to see in the winter time, over time I couldn`t take the cold anymore and found other hobbies.

UPDATE: Plane crashes near Klawock injuring three, two seriously
There was a plane crash in Southeast Alaska Wednesday morning.

The Coast Guard picked up its emergency locator beacon at about 11:30, according to Petty Officer Christopher Harkins in the Juneau Command Center.

He said it was a de Havilland Beaver headed northward from Ketchikan. The Coast Guard official says the aircraft experienced engine problems over Prince of Wales Island.

He says the pilot of the Ketchikan based Promtech Air plane tried to make it to a nearby lake, but fell short of the lake and ended up crashing in the tree line in an area about 13 miles northeast of Klawock.

There were four people on board. Harkins says three were injured, two severely. The other person was not injured.

The two seriously hurt people were transported to Ketchikan.

The best thing about DHC2's is that you can rebuild them from the data plate up.
The one I flew in Canada was a Vietnam survivor.

I literally held the point and shoot over the eye piece. Because the moon is so bright its fairly easy to take fun shots. It's much harder for the planetary objects because they are so highly magnified and the slightest vibration makes it blurry. I found that by setting my Canon ELPH 300 to high speed mode (it just keeps taking photos while the button is pushed down) then I could keep shooting while holding it and eventually one would work out. Good enough just for having fun. Right now we just have a simple 80mm Celestron refractor scope we bought used for $95... very basic stuff.
 
Sitting at 410, looking up a good 10,000 feet above us. It was a super random cell over Colorado, no others in a 200 mile radius haha.

That machine is is only a few year out of a complete data plate up rebuild from its last crash too.
