Hey guys! I was informed today that I will be flying a Piper Aztec up to ANC. Im looking at going Bellingham WA- Ketchikan AK- Juneau AK- Yakutat AK- ANC. I would be lying if I said that im not somewhat intimidated by flying up in Alaska and wanted to see if any of you guys had any tips or advise about what to expect. Thanks in advance guys!

If southeast looks like poo, go up the interior of Canada. This time of year it's mostly severe clear. Picto I assume?

When you get here let some of us know.

Whitehorse usually makes a great "legal" alternate for most of the airports if everything is low. Customs would be less than amused should you actually use it though.

Picto indeed. Ive looked at the canadian route and honestly would rather go that way.

Problem with Canadia and Picto is you're not supposed to do that iirc.

Ketchikan and Yakutat both have an ILS if you're not comfortable with interesting non-precision approaches. Sitka has a better LDA than Juneau. If you can though, do go up southeast. It is beautiful.

Which vendor? AA?

Yeah I have to stay away from canada.

Yeah its AA.

Huh... wonder if I know you. It's been a few years though, but I still keep in contact with PC and JD a little bit. (FB mostly) Anyways, say hi when you get up here.

and thanks for the advise z987k. As of right now im headin up there alone. Im hoping they send someone up with me, if not i will go broke.
