I think I'm around 20,000 but I don't know for sure. I stopped keeping a logbook awhile back after a few years at "the last job I'll ever have..."

I have logbooks up to my employment at "Southernjets"; they keep track of my time there so I could figure it out but...

Kevin

What is Southernjets? Are you talking about the charter company based in Sarasota?

www.ups.com (not hiring...we still have some on furlough).
or
www.fedex.com[/quote]

I've been barking up the Fedex tree since they opened the window. UPS would be on my short list too. Hurry up and recall those guys and start hiring!!! :)

.
I heard you guys picked up on some of the US mail contracts and that might be enough to bring back the furloughed pilots. Of course my hearsay has about five degrees of separation from the source.

Thanks. Are we not allowed to say airline names on here? I'm not just referring to this thread but I've seen it all over, especially member announcements. Do people not want HR figuring out who they are on the forums?

Roughly 7000, I think. Is there some kind of a prize? Do I at least get a trophy?

I'm just a disinterested outsider, but my take is that those corporations would prefer not to have their employees saying "American this, United that, Delta is doing so-and-so..." since it's so easy for news organizations to Google-mine info that way. It's just a way of talking about your employer without actually using their name. Not that there is a concern about HR taking retribution against nay-sayers, but simply that it keeps the PR crew from getting up in arms.

Then again I could be all wet. :p

Guess ya just gotta take one word/phrase at a time Steve :D

If you're a corporate guy, perhaps. Some of us airline wannabes would rather be very productive in terms of flying while we're working, then having plenty of days off not tied to a cell phone or worried about other duties.
As a corporate guy I worked 145 days last year, including sitting in hotel rooms. I had 220 days off. Of those 220 days about 7 were spent doing "other duties". Those "duties" were buying snacks for the plane, which only takes an hour or two each time, but we'll consider it a "work" day. That means I had 213 days off that were mine. I get a cell phone allowance, but I'm not on call, ever. Our schedule is usually pretty firm 2-3 weeks out but can vary slightly. If it changes and I need a day off, I get two weeks a year to schedule whenever I want. In fact I just used my vacation to take time off for my son's birth. I ended up with three weeks off worked three days and off another 10. I couldn't have dreamed of doing that when I was at XJT. Heck, XJT couldn't guarantee my time off for my honeymoon when I was there and I was on my way to being furloughed. In those 145 days of work we flew just shy of 300hrs, 298hrs if I remember correct. Hourly my pay comes to more than a 12 year 747/777 Capt at Delta. I realize however that I am salary and don't have an opportunity to pick up an additional 700hrs over overtime to catch the Delta Capt's pay. I'm not saying this to toot my own horn. I'm the first to admit I'm very very very lucky and only slightly skillful. I'm saying it to try to dispel some of the myths that are out there concerning true pt. 91 corporate flying. It used to be that an airline gig was where it's at and corporate could hardly compete. That has all changed in the last 15-20 years. The gap is quite a bit narrower now. If you're like me and value your time off and quality of life, corporate flying can be extremely rewarding. Also, these jobs are out there. It's not some mythical unicorn. From what I can tell, there's guys that have posed in this thread that probably have a similar set up as I described.

Sorry for the long winded thread drift. He who dies with the least hours and the most pay wins! :)
