As a kid, I used Spunger227 as my AOL screen name. Spunger was because while most of my friends were surfers, I stuck with bodyboarding. Because our boards were made of foam, surfers called bodyboarders "spongers." Spunger was even my license plate until I registered in PA and didn't want to pay for a personalized plate.
Once I started surfing during college, I needed a new name and switched it to SrfNfly, Surf and Fly.
227 has followed me since I was in sixth grade. My teacher nicknamed everybody and mine started off as General, for General Lee. One day when he was drawing names from a hat to put us all in to groups, he started asking who 227 was. Nobody answered and then he finally flipped the sheet of paper over and looked at me. If you flip a sheet of paper over, the L in my name becomes a 7 and the two e's become 2's. I've used it ever since and was actually my flight number when I worked with a company that used "Foot Print" as our FAA call sign.
