Fencer, I was based there with Cape Air for a summer. Brings back memories. The weather up there gets hellacious, too!

Sweet spot that KRUT I've been there two times. Yesterday just before the weather moved in. Cape Air and Big Brown feeders have my respect it may get tough fast. On the way back the breeze on the nose was so stiff I played helicopter a bit then dove closer to the ground again. Otherwise would just land and take a cab :)

How's it get in winter at RUT? Is it realistic that i might be able to make a trip or two up there for skiing this winter?

Well it's cold for sure. If you are staying for a day or two preheater is a must. It's nice place with several ski resorts near by. You may as well look into Intervale, NH. Bob the owner would accommodate you and ski resort is within walking distance from the airport.

greg1016, I'd definitely go up there on a VFR day. The lifting action off the mountains there creates some serious icing in the winter, and embedded thunderstorms in the summer. Not somewhere to go without proper equipment. I honestly don't think even a 402 should be there when the weather is bad, but we used to do it.

Took my girlfriend to the AFW air show, and got to see my cousin during his last road show with the Thunderbirds. He is the crew chief of the #5 plane, the #5 is upside down on the plane because it flies inverted for most of the routine.

Someone thought it was funny to park a 172 next to the C5. I wish I would have thought to grab picture with both of them side by side.

At first glance, you'd think that they'd be able to park a 172 inside. After a quick check, it's not even a close fit.
