Question everything
Well, here's an interesting little Classified news story that the US Media discovered, then tried to quietly bury to avoid an embarrassing National Security scandal. But then, since these schemes appear to have been orchestrated by the CIA, the media may also have thought them too complicated or scary for the average person to grasp. Complicated and scary they are. There are always some people who don't want to hear this type of story and become very upset. Still, I thought there might be a handful of pilots on JC who may be interested in seeing the creative uses the Intelligence Community is finding for commercial passenger aircraft.

Exposed - Covert Operations endangering commercial flights
From time to time since the 1960s, US intelligence agencies have proposed and run covert operations (some very dangerous) involving US commercial passenger aircraft. One of the best known is the now declassified Operation Northwoods. The US media has, in the past, uncovered these Ops, but chose to assist intelligence agencies by running disinformation campaigns designed to conceal or disguise these Ops under elaborate cover stories. These days, these disinformation campaigns are being used to form the foundation of TSA's legitimacy. They are also used to justify TSA policies, procedures and increasing budgets, as well as justify various legislative proposals to increase domestic surveillance.
Although most of these covert operations remain Classified (Classified as "too embarrassing to admit they happened"), it is possible to identify them (legally) using snippets of publicly available information. The CIA's Delta-NW Flight 253 Operation was a classic example.
It seems we've been Punked.
