Jet engine clicking while windmilling on ground

I know this has been covered before, but I can't find it under searching. While a jet is sitting on the ground shut down, I'll hear a consistent clicking. What is that?
 
Wow, I just learned something new, as dumb as it sounds I always thought some of the blades were scraping the fan wall.

Bad stuff starts happening when the blades rub against the interior of the engine cowling.

I just finally got an answer from a Bombardier Tech Pilot last month about the loud popping noise we hear on the CRJ every once in a while during climb out is. Turns out it's the wing attachment bolts shifting slightly. That's comforting.

They told us about that during Challenger initial. Haven't (thankfully) heard it yet in my couple hundred hours behind the wheel.

The CRJ did it pretty often. Some of our airplanes actually had a letter from Bombardier explaining it in the maintenance can. Supposedly not a big deal, but it doesn't sound good.

I do recall hearing that. Is that just the 200 series, or all variants?
 
I was told that the clicking is from the Fan blades being attached loosely [wiggle room](thus the clicking when windmilling) but are rigid after startup due to exapansion...again not sure if that's the manufactors reason.
 
You also hear clicking from the CF34's with the continuous ignition on (or during a stall test), but it's more of a click and less of a rattle like the loose blades produce.

PT-6A does this too. Bump ignition switch with master on -> surprise.
