Aerial Mapping Pilots Needed

So Air Associates called and I was offered to come to K.C. for the interview. :rawk:Anyone know what the interview consists of? I know it's not a time building job but the pay is good, real good. What is life like on the road? Are you sharing rooms with someone etc? Thanks.

Congrats I also got an interview with them.

Not sure about the interview. But yes, QOL is very good and they treat you well. Life on the road is great actually.. I worked there all last year and seeing different cities every other week was great. Of course, there were a few times I went to the same city the entire month. It's not like an airline job where your in and out after an overnight. You actually spend a few days there (but this was changing as I was leaving.. you may move more often) and they give you a rental car so you can see the sights and enjoy yourself. Each person get's their own hotel room. Sitting in an airplane all day and eating meals with that same person all the time is enough for me! And your not staying in a Microtel or the Red Roof Inn all the time, usually a Holiday Inn Express or equivalent. I've stayed in some real nice hotels before. If you ever have any problems with the hotels or places your at, they are very good at changing you guys to a different place. Just feel free to ask these questions in the interview.

As far as moving to KC, it's a nice town. I did the move for the job and it isn't that bad at all. In this world, it's a nice change to go to a different place, make new friends, and enjoy the different sights.

We miss you JB!!! Update your location, it's been awhile. ;-}

What all is involved in the sim ride? What does the interview involve? Is there any thing else I need to brush up on?

Go easy on me guys as this is my first interview for a flight job. :)

I would suspect there's at least one instrument departure, an approach with procedure turn, and a hold. I would also suspect there's an HR portion and a technical portion. Know your instrument stuff.

Just sent in my resume. As far as relocation: I understand that it's required, however I live approx. 8 hours from MCI, would I be able to commute considering the schedule is 8 on/6 off?

for the nights in hotels and airlining back and forth, do the pilots get to reap the rewards of hotel and airline points? this is a big plus of other survey jobs. is it true here?

Sounds good I'll run through more of my instrument books tonight. I'll also run through some plates on Foreflight as well.

I doubt it but you could always ask during the interview.

Hotel and airline points are a nice perk and the pilots get to keep them.

I've got Southwest drink tickets pouring out of my wallet....oh snap!

Anyways, I'm an ex-mapper.....

First of all, great company. They definitely know your name, know who you are, where you come from, what you like to do, etc. They are really big on togetherness and being a big happy family. The office doors are always open and your bosses are great guys who honestly care about you and will bend over backwards to help you out.

You cannot fly in any weather below 1000 and 3. No night time whatsoever. And you split the flying with another pilot. This is not a time builder, but the pay and relaxed culture and working conditions more than make up for it.

In my time, I've spent a week or more in the Bay Area, LA, SLC, Denver, Houston, MSP, Albuquerque, Jacksonville, Tampa, Nashville, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Boston, Richmond, New Orleans, St. Louis just to name a few......Sometimes this job feels like you're taking a week long vacation because of all the sightseeing you get to do. With that said, you are there to fly, but if you can't you can't.

Some of the coolest/funnest flying I've ever done has been in this job. I've flown a plane to coast to coast a few times and everywhere in between. The maintenance is immaculate, and the planes have better avionics than a majority of the planes out there.

Great company, great people(except Stomp16, he's...how do you say.......a little creepy :), great pay. KC is an awesome city!

Any questions, feel free to PM me.....

I have an interview Friday September 30th. Anyone else interviewing that day feel free to PM me. Maybe we can split a rental car.
