Baggy Pants Lead To Football Player’s Arrest

I'm sorry I must have missed the paragraphed describing Mr. Marman's race.

All I saw was an in depth description of an idiot.
There are more than one article on this incident out there. His mother describes his race and appearance pretty well.

It's interesting how our civil liberty fights have changed over the years. 150 years ago we were fighting to ensure that one group of people couldn't be enslaved by another. 100 years ago it was to ensure that women could have a voice in our democratic society. 50 years ago we were fighting to end systematic discrimination of specific minority groups. And today? Fighting to ensure that a man can walk onto an aircraft owned by a private company with his pants down to his knees. Sorry, I don't see many Lifetime movies coming out of this one.

Wow! A distasteful style? Yes. Not being able to fly because of it? I don't agree. How is sagging pants any more inappropriate than tranvestites? Maybe next time he should wear some daisy dukes and heels. This way he can get the backing to the gay community.

It's racism ... because if a white guy pulled his pants down and sat next to your kid, he'd have to notify his neighbors every time he moved, that is after serving 30-years.

I can see both sides of this arguement. As a captain, I wouldn't make it my job to be physically removing someone from my aircraft because someone instructed me to make a citizens arrest. If there is a problem, I'd contact the airport authority and let them handle it. There's no need in me getting my shirt wrinkled over it.

I understand that it's as simple as the guy pulling up his pants, but wear does it end. Would we ask someone wearing a turban to pull it off because we're not comfortable with that person on the airplane wearing a turban? Do I get to kick off the fat person sitting next to me because if there's an accident there's no way in the world this guys going to be able to get out of that seat in a timely manner.

I don't know what race this guy was, but it's mighty interesting that some of you guys assume he's black. I invite some of you to go down to Main St. in Covington KY. I guarantee that you'd see some white guys with there pants sagging....and no shirts on. I guarantee it!

But wear does it end on the other side? Will we sit idle as someone whips out his junk and starts playing with himself just because it's a cultural fad? At the end of the day, the airline is a private business. It's a privately owned plane. They should have every right to kick someone off their flight for whatever reason they want.

I agree, the airline has the right to refuse business to anyone they please. But they can't get mad when the lawsuits begin to roll in.

...was told by a customer service agent to pull up his low-slung pants...

...was again asked by a flight attendant...

...the attendant called the captain...

The captain requested police assistance...

The FBI had been notified...

:whatever:

Are theses the same CSAs that you guys bitch about making their own jumpseat policies and deciding why a flight is delayed? Maybe someone in that chain of escalation was also 'emotionally raw' and a situation that would normally be civilly resolved the other nine times made the news this time.

It's just funny that a dude's grundies made its way to the FBIs switchboard. Perspective everyone, perspective.

Who's assuming? He is black.

And thats because I recognized the name.

But thats not even the point. I kind of see it as a "no shirt, no shoes, no service" thing. And to your other example, an overly fat person who obviously is an egress hazard both for himself as well as other pax, maybe the safety card should get pulled on their ability to ride vs the hazard they create.......

Aye yi yi, how in the world did this turn to race?

It's a style, folks.

Next person that walks up to me and asks me about some L'il Wayne song in the mall is getting face full of fist.

Im thinking of getting some spinners for my '83 Blazer. What brand would you recommend?

I'll stab you! :)

It's not race, it's an issue of style. Not that I like the style, or even that it's appropriate, but it's "Hip Hop" and various races, nationalities, genders, whatnot embrace the style. It's not race based.

Similar to the jackwagons that think they're giving me a compliment when they say "Oh, you speak white!"

Noo, dingleberry, I am a professional, have a four year degree from a private institution and I speak like my parents who embraced the Queen's English.

This is very possible. Does anyone remember a while back when a captain was removed from a flight because he refused by authorities to push from the gate after getting into a verbal with a CSA.

For all we know, this guy could have had a gym shorts or jogging pants on under his pants and is underwear were in fact not showing.

And we wonder why we don't have more black people on this forum.:sarcasm::p

Do you ride the Metro-North train?

It's New York's response to the MARTA soulja woman.

Having someone with their pants around their knees is a far cry from pulling his junk out and playing with himself.

I dont see the big deal. We are a society that plasters womens half naked bodies on bill boards and aircraft (underware or swimsuits same difference), have giant multi story tall bill boards of a man in his underwear in the center of our largest city and we call it advertising. Then a guy tries to board a plane with his pants a bit lower than one person finds acceptable and all of a sudden there is an issue.

There is a large jump that needs to be made between saggy pants and whipping ones junk out on a plane. This guys dress style is no more offensive than a fat chick in spandex, much more revealing and repulsive, or a dude in the 80's wearing a half jerzee with no undershirt chest hair and fat out for all to see. The dudes pants were around his knees, if it goes un-noticed, it will still be socially unacceptable to beat it in public.
