iPAD as EFB

Related question: anyone have a copy of the Cutter Aviation authorization to use the iPad with ForeFlight?

iFly, in case you're not aware, the FAA granted iPad EFB approval to Cutter Aviation using an iPad with ForeFlight; ExecutiveJet received approval using Jepp's MobileTC terminal application.

I too am looking for a copy of Cutter's letter of authorization. I been trying to type one up to meet the FAA order 8900 requirements.

Didn't know that. Cool. Thanks! If anyone finds the LOA post it up!!!

I read an article about Baron's mobile link, allowing you to Bluetooth your xm weather onto an iPad. I haven't found any for sale yet. Anyone know the skinny on this one?

Nice. Looks like they are already working with the major iPad aviation app vendors on integration plans.

There will probably be others on this hardware bandwagon so long as ADS-B remains limited.

Can't wait to see it on the 121 side. Jepp has already been approved for a few 135 operators and the testing jepp did also met the requirements for the 121 world too. I hear a few majors are testing them right now.

Jepp is supposed to have the IFR LOW/HI charts out in July. After that they plan on adding GPS into the MIX and safe taxi charts too.

I've played with both sets of charts and find the Jepp product to be better built than Foreflight. Also Jepps is tremendously faster to update charts on.

Supposedly, we are close to getting the Feds to buy off on Ipad for company manuals but not jepps yet. Of course, we gotta pay for the Ipad if we want to do it...

I'm incredibly impressed with ForeFlight, but Jeppesen FD takes the cake for download/update speeds. I couldn't believe how quickly it downloaded the entire world subscription... they did a great job compressing data. As for Ops approval, it's been fairly thorough: lots of FAA phases to jump through prior to getting the opsec.

We're in the process of getting it approved for both JeppTC,FD and company manuals. Paperless is just around the corner, and now looking forward to XM wx in the future.
