I actually did say that I'd do a quick review of what had to be done and than go on the flight. I don't understand why you think that is the way to go. If a student shows up unprepared, this shows a lack of effort on the students part. I absolutely do not want to be the type of instructor who is in it just to build time and doesn't care if the students are learning. By going on a flight with an unprepared student who is about to gain nothing from a 2 hour flight shows a tremendous amount of unethical behavior on my part. This is not how I plan to teach.

I would like to hear what you have to suggest to CFIs with 250tt and 0 dual given. There aren't many places in the country who would even take the time to finish reading the resume. It's tough times out there and if you aren't moving forward you are falling behind.

Not that I'm planning on taking the job if offered, I just posted to find out if things have changed. But for a lot of fresh CFIs out there, it is one of the only options at this time.
 
Sierra feeds on people like you with 250tt 0 dual. They know they can do what ever they want with you and get away with it.. I'm sure there are some other places in the country that will read your resume and give you a chance as a lot of instructors are moving on to the airlines... There has to be openings somewhere. Do some research. You will be better off.

Go back to the school you learned from and see if you can pick up some part time work. Look into traffic watch, pipeline patrol, look into ferry work, sky divers, look at other local schools. And ADVERTISE!!!! Put flyers up at local schools and colleges. That got me alot of work. Build some time and fly drones until theres some descent movement. I worked a couple different side jobs while i was starting out. Look at all the job websites to! Times are tough, and you have to get creative. Hell im flying over glorified RC planes in sandy places and making some SERIOUS dough. And one day when things are better, ill get back into the manned game.

How about your local field? where did you get your CFI? Go hang out at a local spot, talk to people, be proactive. Try Transpac/American aviation/american flyers/ iasco, ifta...like Smooth50 do some research. There are TONS of places if your willing to relocate. What up Smooth? I'm going to call you back soon i swear.


Don't think of it as your only option, your setting yourself up for a cycle of being in the bottom rung of aviation. I was there when it was good, then bad, and then very bad, trust me from experience there are other options. If I would have known how bad it was going to be, I would have gone another route. Make calls, send out resumes like hot cakes, sell yourself.

Yes I have tried most of these suggestions and most of them need at least 500 for insurance purposes. I have also sent my resume to all the flight schools listed in my state and some other states on the FAA website. Most of them reply with a "we are not hiring at this time but will be glad to keep your resume on file for future possibilities" when I call to follow up.

As for flying UAVs for the mean time, I'd love to but it seems to be very hard to break into it with out previous experience. If you have any pointer on how to get a UAV job I'd really appreciate it.
 
Getting a job in this market isn't easy. I had to knock on doors over and over again for over a year to get my job. However times are changing and places like IASCO, USFA, and Transpac will be needing instructors. I imagine they won't be holding onto the 200 Dual given requirement much longer.
 
They posted again on the big orange site today...hiring 7 and willing to pay up to $400 in relocation assistance...

They told us $500 for relocation back in the day, and I still have not seen a single dime of that money....
 
They suckered a lot of instructors with the promise of a relocation/hiring bonus. Once you were there they would tell you that offer had expired the day before you arrived.
 
The one thing about aviation I have realized is nothing is as promised. I didn't bite the bullet but just wanted to pass along info if anyone else is looking.
 
Haha they are saying they will "pay" for relocation. Haha. Most never got it. And the ones that did when I was there Got it paid in installments for 5 months. but they take the rent out of the 100 a month. So your account never really goes back to what it was when you were relocating. Don't believe the scam. I am happy they are saying they will pay to relocate. That means people are getting smarter and staying away from there and the ones that are there are leaving. Another blow to those Koreans! Success! Run far far away from that place.

volunteering in the congo than try to make a living at a company run by Koreans. You work your ASSS off and never make any money day in and day
out as you watch the little bit of dough you've saved up shrink under your nose. For the LOVE of GOD don't apply to this Flight School.
