Hawaiian + Alaska Air

Fresh rumors about a US carrier either (a) acquiring or (b) merging with them both.

With all the linking up that Delta and Alaska have been doing lately, I think it's something that will happen sooner or later.

With the latest news and Horizon "possibly" going to start flying in Alaska by the end of the year, I think they're getting their dominoes in order.

Think about it:
- Horizon starts flying in Alaska, that way Delta can take Alaska Air's 737's and use them elsewhere...why train the whole Delta 737 pilot group for Alaska operations when you already have Horizon in place to do it?

Hadn't heard this one as a pair. Sounds complicated.

The question on my mind is what is the plan following the announcement that the -9s are being parked in 18-24 months. Hmmm.

Delta buys Compass for 3 times what they sold it for in order to get the EMB-175's on property ASAP.

Hulas dances a jig.

MD90s and Dual class RJs is what the Delta Presentation said.

Now it all makes sense. Delta buys Alaska & Hawaiian = ASA's mission statement to become the first super regional and fly to all 50 states. God, it's so obvious now... :sarcasm:

Atlantic Southeast "Holdings" will purchase to do all the regional flying for these two outfits rather than trying to compete with other DCI carriers. :sarcasm: (Praying that isn't the case). American would make more sense since they haven't yet acquired or merged with anyone. Either way it seems more and more that a lifetime at a regional is where this is headed for me.

My bet is on Republic. They haven't bought anyone in a while, and they've got a track record for buying airlines two at a time. :)

But they have to fire all the pilots at Hawaiian first!

Haven't rumors of AA merging with someone been around for a while? I know JetBlue has been the big player but I wouldn't count out Alaska.
