Fly for Great Lakes?

Actually, Great lakes called me for an interview date. I told them that I will call them back with the information they needed and then i discovered that they only pay $16 an hour... And that aftera year, you will only be making 18 an hour...

They make you pay out of pocket to fly to Denver for the interview AND they dont pay you for training....

All that so that I can have the privilage of uprooting my life, moving to god knows where, all to sit right seat in a B1900 while I dig myself deeper into debt on their crap pay...

And in regards to my phone number being public...

Good decision.

If I had to work for an airline for fun, it'd be Great Lakes. If it was for pay, we'll I'd rather eat sand and stab my eyes with needles.

Ben - Did you get a call for Jan. 20th interview? I have mine scheduled 8:30am!

From what I know is yes the pay is poor, but you are getting something for that which is a way quicker upgrade. If it works for your situation its a great place. I have talked to a lot of Lakers the past few weeks and they all tell me its amazing to be at a much higher/better job after only for 3-4 years - lightyears ahead of most pilots at "bigger and better" regionals.

Let me know if you interview on the 20th. I get in the 19th. I have very good gouge and maybe we could meet up and study the night before.

PM me.

James

Don't let that be the only reason you go there because the reality is you will be there longer than that before a major would consider a 1900 captain. The industry is saturated with RJ captains looking to move on. I got nothing against GL and I'm sure the flying is great, heck I applied there myself but ended up going to another regional and am very glad I did. Remember, don't take the first 121 job you can get, be patient and wait a little longer for one that you will be much happier at. If you want KDEN base SkyWest is a great place to go and with a little senority would eventually get it. I would enjoy what your doing right now. "If only we'd stop trying to be happy we could have a pretty good time"

I've known a number of dudes who have gone from 1900 to adding "heavy" to their callsign. These are also the same folks, who would make an RJ pilots knees weak, based on their flying background.

I'm just saying, don't compare airframes, compare the pilots.

That's not necessarily true. He will be less competitive at places where there is more competition because RJ PIC is preferable to prop but the reality is that he will meet hiring mins before an RJ pilot since most competitive places require the TPIC. You can't get a job if you can't apply.

Jesus are you a HR recruiter for them? Enjoy the kool-aid, I look forward to your complaining in two or three when you're not only at the "Majors" but possible not even in the left seat. Rapid upgrade is a trap, lose a couple EAS routes and become the next Big Sky, enjoy starting over on a seniority list after wasting a couple years of your life and thousands of dollars of credit card debt.
