Pulled it off! Time for IOE

X-Forces

Big Black Guy
Well, despite losing my great aunt during my first week of initial training :(

Then losing my father two weeks ago :(

I still managed to pull off initial training and pass my checkride yesterday. I am stressed out of my mind, and have a real need to grieve, but I am happy it is behind me.

I didn't post much through the training, the fire-hose analogy is not far off when it comes to 121 initial and when you factor in a couple of deaths in the family it doesn't help.

Thanks for the support guys (You know who you are!)

Looking forward to posting a lot more in the coming weeks.

Way to go.

Have you done loft yet?

Who do you have for IOE?

Seriously condolences, man. That stuff's all a big bummer.

Congrats on making it through the grinder. Take a moment, breathe. You've certainly earned it- and need it. I know you don't really know me, but PM me if I can help.

Sorry for your losses, but a huge congrats on pulling it off with so many outside factors!

Wow, sorry to hear about all that, but great job making it through. I was in a similar situation once. I lost my mother, then 3 weeks later lost my job and started initial at another company. About a week into initial my girlfriend left me. Easily the worst point in my life, but just like you I pushed through and made it happen. Best of luck on IOE and hitting the line!

Any one of these events is hard enough to get through by themselves. Add them all up and it is a load I wouldn't wish on anyone. Congrat's and my Condolences as well !!

Nicely done Keith. I think the majority of people would have folded up and gone home. Enjoy flying the real thing!

Actually I know you by common connections and reputation, I will certainly be in touch before too long. Thanks

I'd say you have a solid head on your shoulders. I couldn't have done it.
I'm proud of you mang.
sorry for your losses but:
Way to Focus!!!

Thanks everyone, it was a hell of a 6 weeks period. I was ready to pack it in for a while after my dad passed, but I decided that the training would serve as a distraction from what was going on, and I would be able to stay focused.

It worked out pretty well, but any downtime I had was tough, because I would begin to dwell and that would start to jack me up. I am not looking forward to having to explain the whole thing to the kids tomorrow, but I guess that is just a part of life.

I have to say, for anyone thinking about applying to the Begle, the company was great about the whole thing. They implored me to take time off, as much as I needed, and they would accommodate my training schedule accordingly. I never felt any pressure or lack of support. Nice to finally work for a real company once again.

Good work! It feels good to be outta the box, doesnt it?

You have no idea. I still have my sea legs on (just a bit). I am hoping to be able to sit up straight and stop wobbling within a day or so! :o

Got a call, won't be on IOE until at least the middle of the first week of Dec at the earliest.

Oh darn!! What am I going to do with another paid week and a half off! It's just not fair!:D

Do what I'm doing: Lots of PS3 and Netflix. Gotta love a good long wait for IOE. ;)

Nice job. I know how much having personal stuff going on can mess with a training cycle. Good on you for bearing down and pushing your way through it.
