Its possible that I will need 5-6 pilots in the Houston / Dallas area for traffic survey work beginning later this month.

Here are the requirements:

CPL / IFR
500TT SEL
CFI preffered
Experiance within BRAVO airspaces

Again, this is ONLY for those pilots located within an hours drive from either Dallas or Houston.

I will reply only to those who I am considering for the job. Pay will be between $10-$15 per hour.

DO NOT CONTACT ME IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED ABOVE AND DO NOT RESIDE WITHIN A REASONABLE COMMUTE TO EITHER DALLAS OR HOUSTON.

Please send an E-mail with your resume to: bzwebner@gmail.com

In the e-mail please list your experiance with VFR flying within Bravo airspace.

Is 10-15 bucks an hour typical for a position like this? That seems awfully low for anyone to try to subsist off of, especially when pilots invest so much time and effort getting all their ratings. I was making 25/hr starting as a CFI. I thought that was pretty typical of a starting position from CFI to jump pilot.

I'm not trying to lambaste or to alienate, I just need a bit of education on the subject.

That's why you have to already be 'local'. It would be difficult to move somewhere for that kind of $. It's a great op for a low time pilot though, maybe one who doesn't want to be a CFI.

is the 500tt insurance minimum's because I would love to have this job, but only have 273tt?

Moved away for some more education and better opportunities, not in aviation unfortunately. Most CFI's I knew in Michigan were making around 20-40/hr, with the majority in the median of that range. Here in Chicago I turned down a position that was 15/hr. I honestly didn't know that the aforementioned hourly wage was typical.

15 is actually more than normal. When I was flying traffic I was getting paid 15 an hour and it was pretty good. And I live in the DC area.

In philly and a few other cities I know of, they pay 10 an hour.

The 500 total time requirement is insurance related and we cant accept anyone below that.

$15 an hour for flying an airplane?

Really?!

:-(

Errr... go look up the Greak Lakes payscale, it gets worse.

When an employer is nice enough to post openings on this site its not really a good time to nit pick... as he said this is pretty much industry standard pay for this type of work. Thank him for posting, and either apply or dont.

Ben, I sent one of my good friends your way last week. Her name is Jessica Morton . . . great gal, she'll work hard for you . . . easy to work with. She is flight Instructing in DFW right now. Anyway, I'll vouch for her! (Not that it means anything)

When I was first hired as a CFI I was making $13 an hour. Now after 2 1/2 years I'm at 16.50. I was looking to relocate to KGEG and called the 141 school there and they said that they would start me off at $9. I basically told them that I could get paid more to work at Wall-Mart and they could take their job and shove it! I couldn't believe that after thousands of dollars of training, and a 4 year degree, someone tried to offer my $9 and hour. Slap in the face!

Hope they get burnt down. I bet some idiot is willing to work for that much.

Also if you think of it, someone who is living with parents, young in their early 20's and barely have any expense, $9 an hour will suffice their needs and plus they still get to accumulate hours.. It is an unfortunate situation for the rest of us who are doing it both to bring food at our table and for passion.

Well u must have been talking to UND cause that is the only part 141 school we have and they pay a lot more than that.

Saw a recent post on a jobs page for an IA/AP. This was for a Dallas and Houston traffic watch start up with 4 planes in Dallas and 1 in Houston.

Perhaps an association with this thread?

This will be interesting since I already fly Traffic watch in Dallas, we fly three planes and fly the reporters( for KBAP,kSCS,KRLD radio stations) so I have not heard anything bout a bid coming to take over but since ATC has a letter of agreement with us along with the 2 FBOs that fuel us and every controlling agency, airport, FBO knows us how we work and most importantly the radio stations have an understanding on how things work,

So I'm curious on how this will play out
