Pinnacle Corp., buys Mesaba

Yeah I got the E-mail saying that all 3 groups were going to talk about the "one list, one contract" shortly. It seems like all 3 groups want the same thing and are on the same page at the moment. I REALLY hope the union guys can get together and get a good contract done for all of us in the not too distant future....

it is still full steam ahead, but just now for all of us on one list. I can see them taking mesaba's contract as the starting point, and making it better. Seriously though, whats the point of getting pinnacles and colgans contracts done now, and then starting all over again. I applaud this decision by our collective unions.

Maybe because after what Pinnacle has been through, it's hard to believe that they would suddenly want this huge pilot group under a decent contract, when they currently have two groups working on the cheap and one group with a concessionary contract.

So are we not trying to get our own contract done first before we start this?

This is sorta the gist of what I got: we're still pushing for an interim contract for us that includes the signing bonus and wage increases. They can technically do this via LOAs on our current contract, I believe. Now, the question is, once the 45 days start on the combined contract, how much grunt work is gonna be put in on an interim deal? My guess....zero. All the negotiating committee people will be tied up. So, if we don't have an interim deal by the time the clock starts ticking on the 45 days, we're looking at at least 45 days until something else happens for us. At the end of that 45 days, if there's no deal, it'll depend on how things are going. If progress is good, they keep going. If it's not.....well, just stop me, because I KNOW you've heard this one before.....multiple times.

The good news for us is if we DO get a deal ratified by all three groups, 9E can implement it immediately. The reason they're going for an interim deal at Colgan is because it'll take longer since we'll have to work out SLI issues to bring those guys over to the new list. So, we could implement it immediately, but Colgan will still be hanging out for several months while SLI stuff gets worked out. They need something in the meantime. XJ is sitting okay since their current deal isn't amendable until next year.

Wanna get it done quickly? XJ's contract + our health care, and I'd jump on that deal myself.

Yeah, based upon the email that was sent out last night by the MEC, that's what I'm getting too. I am liking what I am hearing though....Just curious to see when we'll start seeing improvements here at 9E

I saw the new -900 (9E) safety cards in the stockroom at work yesterday... when do the 9E crews start flying it?

Leave the monkey out of this!

Seriously though, don't professional students have anything better to do than think about their next pizza? Like studying for law classes or something?

Studying now, start classes on Monday. I could give you a lecture about the little I know about criminal law, but the monkey is probably a much more interesting topic.

As of about 10 seconds ago.

Fellow employees:
I wanted to let you know that the management of Mesaba, Colgan and Pinnacle, along
with the leadership at ALPA, have reached a consensus to negotiate for a single contract
that will include the pilots at each of the three airlines. We plan to meet with ALPA the
week of August 23 to determine the ground rules for conducting negotiations with the
hope that we can then immediately start expedited negotiations. The negotiations would
also address any issues arising from the purchase of Mesaba by Pinnacle Corp. The date
to start negotiations will be determined after we finish the ground rules for conducting
them. My thanks to the Master Executive Council and everyone at Mesaba for the hard
work we have already done. This is positive news and a big step toward producing an
agreement that’s fair for the pilots and our airline.
Sincerely,
John Spanjers
