It's just amazing how there are so many pilots that complain about the site because it forces mistakes, yet the owners keep it the way it is. Avoid it if you can. :o Who cares how many landings you've made under dual at night and during the spring months??? JK.. but A few hours spent on that site makes yo want to bust a cap. It is so unnecessarily thorough.

Yes i agree- but if you want the candy (airline job) you have to pay the price (airlineapps and screw scheduling, and crappy pay,.. wait this is another thread all together haha).

But seriously...

back in 2007 when I applied/got hired by XJT- EVERYTHING in logbook and AirlineAPPS.com MATCHED 100%...

Now i can't get them and its frustrating as all get out.... someone want to help? Come to HOU and I'll buy the beer!!!!!

I'm overdue for another "Are ya comin' or NOT man?" phone call to Plato, let me see if I can find something out.

Dough- im lost- what does this do with my times lol?

Plato is the guy that runs Airline Apps. I too hate useing the site but it is a necessary evil.

I wrote them two times recently for help and never even got a reply. Fortunately, I figured the issue out.

AH- very good to know I'm not the only one- I can't get my times to match even thought my logbook I'm happy to say is immaculate as far as times adding up goes.

Im still stuck above with my times, and no matter what numbers I finagle I can't seem to get them to come close. In 2007 I had the apps.com totals and my logbook totals within 1hr of each other and that was the best I could get it- the airline didnt care.. but now...

I need them to match 100%,. The airline back then didn't care if it was off by an hour or two.. but now -same airline really really cares haha.

EDIT- DOUGH- I ALSO LAUGH EVERY TIME I SEE YOUR "IDIOT SAVANT" PICTURE - HILARIOUS HAHA

No need to bump man. If I'm able to get in contact with Plato, I'll see what he says. I just left him a voicemail 10 minutes ago.

sweet- it's driving me freaggin insane though- hence the bump lol- i went back probably at least 15 times since we last spoke- new formulas, called a few people, call him back and ask him to make it like the 8710 form or just DIRECTLY like the logbook shows haha.

HAPPY UPDATE-

An old friend from college called me when he read the thread, basically, he is what we accomplished over the phone....

ASEL time is now within .5
Dual time is now within .5
PIC time -im still missing 18.6hrs of time?...
TT is now within 1 hr.

SO all in all- MUCH great success thanks to him!- but we couldnt figure out how to find/get that 18.6hrs of PIC time... i already looked in my student time and thought i may have added student time in place of PIC, but I didnt..

So - so far everything lines up within .5... except the 18.6hrs of PIC time?... And i just cant add it in, cause then it changes all my totals...

I feel your pain. My totals are not exact either but are within only a coulple of hours. I think it is pretty sad if an airline would complain about such an insignificant amount of time. Especially if you are a higher time pilot that error could be less than 1%.

I agree 1000%! - I just wish i could figure out how to get that 15hrs of PIC time from some place in the app... its killing me lol

Its just an odd website- everything else adds up... EVERYTHING... totals, ASEL, AMEL, TURBINE, HELIO, etc etc.. everything... but the PIC does not... oh well..
that's it for me for tonight.... here's looking at you ...

Your forum is great and I will be happy to help you answer some questions from our fellow aviators. The thread you sent me having to do with flying time is the most common question from pilots. I also noticed that someone posted they contacted us without a response. This is simply not tolerated by me or anyone else at our company so if he is willing, send me his email and contact information and I will look at the email logs. The most common results are they didn't write to us at all (maybe sent to someone else like Air Inc.), they did write and received a reply, or there was a problem with their email server (very common with free accounts). If you have anyone else stating we didn't reply, tell them to use the "contact us" form on airlineapps.com. This will use our servers and prevent a problem with other email services.

Now, with respect to the flying time issue:

Within .5 is no problem. The system rounds the flying time in different areas of the database when it performs the calculations. The airlines look for big discrepancies when reviewing the logbook and are not going to worry about a .5 difference but it is nice to see someone paying so much attention to detail. The trend is the other way where people just don't seem to care as much and expect the flying job anyway.

Now for the PIC discussion. The important thing to realize is that just because you are legal to log time a certain way does not mean that an employer (airline) has to accept the time for consideration. With regards to PIC time, the airlines want true PIC time using the FAR Part 1 definition:

Pilot in command means the person who:

(1) Has final authority and responsibility for the operation and safety of the flight;

(2) Has been designated as pilot in command before or during the flight; and

(3) Holds the appropriate category, class, and type rating, if appropriate, for the conduct of the flight.

The consensus being that if you are receiving instruction (instructor in the aircraft), the instructor has final authority and is the PIC. FAR Part 61 has many ways to log time as both PIC and Dual however, this time should be reported on an airline application as Dual Received and not PIC. This will make your application have less PIC time than in your logbook, which is expected. It is always better to understate your qualifications than to overstate them.

I hope this helps and would like to talk soon about your events and your business.

Doug- first of all- thanks for the response....

As to the PIC part- I have no idea what he is talking about- I already read that almost word for word off his website BEFORE i tried to enter the PIC times....

I followed the directions, word for word- he even said it himself- "i paid attention to detail."...

And my paying attention to detail has me off 18hrs.... Im going back to the drawing board to look at it again for more wasted hours..

thanks very much for trying Doug! Really appreciate you taking time out of your day to help me.
Thanks
Brandon

UPDATE: WOAH - HOLD THE HORSES HERE-.... so over night- somehow i lost 1 more hour of multi time now then i had yesterday, and now my PIC time is 20hrs off instead of 18.... WTF is up with this website???

Anyone else have this issue???
