Congrats to my firstborn, Graham, who just heard today he was selected for a slot for Navy flight training!

He still has to pass the physical and the PRT...

I'm proud of him.

Kevin, as Grahams proud papa, please accept my congratulations and pass along to Graham my sincerest best wishes that he will do well in his training. Becoming a Naval Aviator is something to be very proud of.

Congrats to you two! :)

Are you already picking out your first "Barnacle Bill the Sailor" song to sing whilst grogging it up? :)

Awesome.

I'm a few months ahead of him so there's a chance we might end up at OCS together.

Here's the song my wife picked for us to dance to at our wedding reception (I was a LTjg at the time)

Blue, navy blue, I'm as blue as I can be
'Cause my steady boy said "Ship ahoy"
And joined the Nay-ee-ay-vee

He said he wanted to settle down
And let me be his girl
But first he had to do a little travelin' around
And see the whole wide world

That's why I'm blue, navy blue,
I'm as blue as I can be
'Cause my steady boy said "Ship ahoy"
And joined the Nay-ee-ay-vee

I got a letter yesterday from Tokyo
And a souvenir
A walky-talky wind-up little China doll
That says "Wish you were here"

Blue, navy blue, I'm as blue as I can be
'Cause my steady boy said "Ship ahoy"
And joined the Nay-ee-ay-vee

He's comin' home to see me on a weekend pass
A forty-eight hour day-ate
That boat he's sailin' on just better get here fast
'Cause I can hardly wait

Till then I'm blue, navy blue,
I'm as blue as I can be
'Cause my steady boy said "Ship ahoy"
And joined the Nay-ee-ay-vee

He's going to be a junior in college next year. The way I understand it, he will take his physical & PRT within the next 30 days, then be sworn in and paid as an E-3 while he finishes school. Once he has his degree they will schedule him for OCS.

Assuming he passes the physical and graduates, he will have an OCS class date sometime after May of 2012. Again, assuming he gets his commission, he is guaranteed a spot in flight school.

Congrats, Kevin. You have much to be proud of! Good luck to your son in the days ahead. :rawk:

Good deal, he must be doing BDCP (a very good deal). Congrats, he will have a lot of fun in the years of flight training ahead of him!
