I was on a XC from KVGT to KRAL and I heard a phrase I was unfamiliar with. I heard a controller call out an aircraft that wasn't responding and then said "avant guard". What would he mean by that?![]()
Sorry quote from a good movie/great book. lolVampires pretending to be humans pretending to be vampires? How avant-garde
Perhaps he said "En Garde" and was attempting to start a fight :crazy:Avant garde... you should have replied "cessna 123, uh, I don't get it."
Are you sure you didn't mis-hear the controller. He could have said "on guard" like he was trying to call the NORDO plane on the guard freq.

I always wondered what would happen if some pilot didn't understand/mean the implication of that, and said it actually trying to be nice. Would the controller still be mad?in other news...
anybody heard "see you next time" :rotfl:

Is there another implication other than trying to be nice?
He was more than likely saying "on guard."
Yeah, there is.
C U Next Time.
Wow, I would have never put THAT together. Do you really think a controller would think that's what you're saying to them, esp. if they know you frequent that airport?
We know all.
(There's a light on the console that tells us). :bandit:
I thought the controllers really liked me.
