jetBlue Pilots New Payrates!!

Sadly, they were getting paid more than first year CAL FOs BEFORE the pay bump. Now the gap is just widened. Go jetBlue......now start hiring again so I can start calling in favors. :)

I heard the LGB base is really small and senior. Is that true?

They got that Lufthansa money now they're starting to get closer to Lufthansa pay. JB still hiring? APC says they are.

Umm, Lufthansa's on the Euro. $1 USD is about €1.40 EU

Yes that is true. Very difficult to get unless one of the west coast guys decides to come east. I have no idea about future growth out of LGB. Maybe LAX will be a co-base some day and we'll expand out of there. Who knows.

Whats the deal with OAK? Is that an E190 base since some of the E190s are coming out West now?

We don't have any 190 bases on the west coast. Just JFK and BOS right now. I keep waiting for there to be a 190 base out there. Seems like running up and down the west coast would be a good job for it.

These numbers are heavily derived (from here). It appears that pilot pay at Lufthansa is independent of the type (?), and may be similar to Swiss International (here).

If you assume 960 hours/year (80/month) and a 1.4134:1 $-€ rate, the Lufthansa pay looks like:
Year .. Capt ... F/O
1 ..... $194 ... $ 92
10 .... $320 ... $169

So, I'm probably totally off in left field somewhere, but it's nice to think about.

The raw data is base F/O pay is €62,400/year ($88,240/yr) and Capt base is €131,500/year ($185,955/yr).

Now now, its thinking like that which doesnt help get us out of the pay mess we are now currently in.

Being a 5th year FO really sucks, it's either upgrade quick and get out or be a gear-biatch for a decade (if your company is still around) then go start over again at the crappy company to upgrade quick and get out...

My roomate was an ASA capt and he said that's where its at. You get to fly with your favorite • Capt every trip, yourself!

I would be interested in hearing from ATN/PCL and Velo on this issue. It would appear that they are no longer undercutting the piloting profession, but they are not union. So, where do the hardcore unionists sit with regards to the new JB pay?

To play the devil's advocate..

I'm thinking perhaps this was a reward or enticement to not unionize in the first place.

While the payrates look good, remember that JB new "industry average" pay rates barely beat the concessionary contracts of the Legacies. Also, the increases are just in pay and no improvements have been made to work rules, medical benefits, and retirement, which are all below industry avg. Adding those two factors together this pay increase pales in comparision to Alaska Airlines new contract. But it is a small step in the right direction.

I wish nothing but the best success for jetBlue. Awesome product, friendly flight crews, and excellent service on their flights. I absolutely love commuting on them.

Well there's no way in heck RAH can match those.... Now it has me wondering what will happen with those E190's.... :) Great news for Airways too when their pilots can finally settle the issues. Now they can strive for more on the E190 and set a new standard! Great job JB!

Am I reading this right, the JB guys now have better rates on the A320 then DAL?

Why do you say there is no way. The pilots will be operating a narrowbody mainline size aircraft (E190AR). They will have the same responsibility and the aircraft will generate mainline revenue. The flight segments will be those that were paying pilots higher pay just a few months ago. RAH has a relatively Jr. pilot group compared to typical mainline airlines. Their pilots deserve industry standard pay or better... so why shouldnt they get it?

I would submit that if they don't get close to that rate, then the RAH pilots will indeed be subject to more venom than they currently are. RAH put mainline pilots on the street - if their pilots accept less than a non-unionized airline flying the same airframe the commutes will get difficult in my opinion.

Is there anything that goes into this negotiation in which JB management said "hey...we still can maintain crappy work rules, but give them more pay. This will screw RAH as well as Airways when they have to negotiate their rates and will put even more pressure on them".
