Premium pay will trigger at 78 hours now, duty and trip riggs are still in the works, sick time counts towards premium pay.

Wow this is quite a surprise for a non-union carrier. Those E190 FO are getting paid more than CAL 737 FOs. Plus premium pay triggers after 78 hrs. An 85-95 hr line at JB can net someone a nice paycheck.

Premium pay used to be at 70hrs now pushed back to 78hrs but still great to see an increase to what it now is. Hope they are able to get some work rules improved and now the RAH pilots have a rate for the E190/E195, at least a good starting point.

Most junior E190 CA paid higher than most senior A320 FO...just the way it should be!

I kind of like that idea too.

Some may disagree, but I don't think first officers at any airline should get paid more than a captain, regardless of years of service and equipment flown. The responsibility that is required by captain is worth that more of a first officer.

Not true at all. Being a good facilitator of CRM is sharing the judgments. Ultimately the Captain is responsible, but they should get all the input from the other crew members around them.

I disagree with how you worded it.

You make it sound like an FO sits up there and stares out the window and does whatever the Captain tells him/her to. There are plenty of times that I have saved our butts and there are plenty of times the Captain has saved em (crossing restrictions, taxi instructions, etc). That places the resposibility on both of us and last time I checked there weren't any flights taking off without an FO. Granted the ultimate decision making ability lies with the Captain and for that I agree they should be paid accordingly.

Maybe my wording was poor but you get the point.

Captains should make more than first officers. Of course FOs have responsibility, but I feel it's much more for a captain.

Sadly, they were getting paid more than first year CAL FOs BEFORE the pay bump. Now the gap is just widened. Go jetBlue......now start hiring again so I can start calling in favors. :)

Very impressive.

Did JB pilots know about this previously, or was this a surprise announcement? Sure would love that surprise!

This was not a surprise. After the failure of the union vote, the company and pilots created several committees to start making improvements. The new payrates were largely produced by our "Compensation and Benefits" committee. So this has been in the works since early Feb.

Aren't these proposed ratez?

No. These are the new rates approved by the board yesterday.

The target was "industry average". All rates are based off the A320 Captain rates. E190 Captain rates are 90% of A320 Captain rates and FO rates for both aircraft are 60-68% of their respective Captain rates based on longevity.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I suppose some will say "industry average" isn't doing anything to raise the bar but it is a huge step for us.

That is a big step. I knew a guy that left here for jetblue when he was still on high mins as a new upgrade. People thought he was crazy. He's probably a 190 CA now making double what they are making...

Truth be told I like jetblue. Say what you want about them but now that they have the payrates "fixed" (it was low before) it seems like one could do fairly well there. Good product, average pay, what more can you ask for these days in an airline career?

Is it ironic that jetblue's bottom end pay for CA's on the 190 and 320 is higher than US Airways top end pay?

They got that Lufthansa money now they're starting to get closer to Lufthansa pay. JB still hiring? APC says they are.
