Good flashlight for walkaround?

I'm looking for a good flashlight for the walkaround. I currently use a G2 LED Surefire that's only about 5 inches and a max output of 80 lumens but the battery cost is making it less appealing to me lately. I was wondering if you guys have any good suggestions for a small flashlight that uses normal batteries (AAA or AA) and has comparable brightness to a surefire.
 
I bought a small LED from Lowes, I can't remember the name, but it's small, ultrabright and fits right in your pocket.

The only problem, unlike the maglight I used to carry around, you really can't beat a terrorists ass with a small LED flashlight.

See, I carry a 2 C cell maglight with the LED conversion for that very reason. Plus, get this, I actually figured out how to fit it, my headset, crayon box, DAL 43, DAL 47, the FOM, and Vol. 1 into my flightbag.

I wish I could. My flight bag is more or less useless crap I never use and then I try to cram a headset in there.

They mostly make tactical leds, i believe the H2r is rechargable. They are bright, dimmable, and feature a strobe mode which is excellent for getting people's attention.

there are a fair number of Colgan Fo's that have tried out the rechargable version, im sure some can post thoughts...

The down side is that you can use a normal battery, but, I do believe in a bind that the rechargable can be taken out and replaced by 2 123 bat's. (At least when i was doing some work with them, they were planning that.)

I have the H2x, which was pretty much the prototype for the series, so I can't be 100% on the specs.
 
Fits in my pocket, extremely bright and I get a couple weeks out of my rechargeable batteries.

I carry two AA size Maglights. One is LED and the other is just a regular bulb. Both work just fine and the LED can illuminate the very top of the tail on the 767. I bought both as a combo at Lowe's for $19.95. Just go cheap, that is all that matters.
 
If you have a mini mag, you can buy the LED conversion at wally world for $5. I use it, and have only changed the batteries once in the last year or so. Streamlight makes some smaller rechargeable ones, but you can only use the battery pack. I used the streamlight when I was a mechanic. I could light up planes clear accross E concourse.

I have some little coleman flashlight that takes 3 "AAA" batteries. I did the walk around last night. I was at the tail of the jet and it illuminated the tug 231' away. It has just one LED bulb.

I love that light.
 
I've got one from Coast that kicks butt. It's got five white diodes and then one red diode in the middle so you can use it in the cockpit at night. The only thing that really sucks with that light is if you turn on the white lights in while trying to look at a chart, you'll damned near blind yourself. The buttons are textured so that you shouldn't do that even in the dark, though I've managed to pull it off a few times.

I think I got it at Fry's Electronics in Arlington, TX for $35
