Can we all thank the CO PILOT of the U.S. Airways plane!

Dear Mr. F/O,

I am sorry the media thinks that "Sully" was the only one in the cockpit...I say THANK YOU for doing a heroic job assisting the Cpt. and saving all souls on board.

Darren:D

Oh come on! F/O's get no glory--the PILOT was the HERO, the CO-PILOT was BALLAST! :D

Check out this AP article; FO Skiles (a 23-year US Airways veteran BTW), is merely a footnote at the end of the article.

Seriously, kudos to the entire crew and everyone who participated in the rescue. A case study example of CRM gone right! Maybe we'll stop hearing about those "greedy, overpaid pilots", for a short while anyway.

The flight crew and the cabin crew did a wonderful job. That is the reason everyone onboard is still alive and able to go back to their families.

The captain is 29 year US Airways vet and former fighter pilot, FO is 49 and with US Airways for 23 years.... Lesson for us frequent flyers: fly on the cushy, middle of the day high-demand flights that all the senior pilots bid for!

So true... I guess if I had my own consulting firm I'd be raking in the spotlight. No need to thank - by name - those that made a safe ditching possible. Hats off to the Jet Blue pilot who turned down Jay Leno's interview saying "I'm not a Hero, keeping everyone safe is my job."

I guess the FO was not present, from what the articles seem to make you believe.

Who the hell knows if it was even the Captain behind the controls... for all we know the FO could have been flying the plane. I havent seen mention of any of this.

Whatever the case, the media is always an idiot. Great job by the crews, truley amazing everyone survived this one.

P.S -- What value would you stamp on the actions of the crew?

Massive.

For all we know, Parker, Bloomberg and whoever is the chairman of the FAA were sitting back sipping on coffee at a coosh mahogany desk when the whole thing went down.

Are you kidding? All the FO does anyway is get coffee for the captain and be a gear handle monkey! :sarcasm:

Jace, what captains have you been flyin' with? I get the captains to fetch the coffee while I do the walkaround. It's been a good setup until winter....

This is getting worse and worse....Mayor Bloomberg mentioned Sully for his great landing and FOX News said he will get the Key to the City calling him an ACE PILOT...not PILOTS or ACE CREW !! The average public and the media (with their Wolf Blitzer) don't have a clue about aviation! I guess my dream of becoming an ATP is over seeing that I you now have to go straight to Cpt. Can someone write a song named "Where have all the F/O's gone".

So what are all you Co-Pilots going to do since your job no longer exists? Denny's, McDonald's....at least it is a place that you will actually do something:sarcasm:. I mean you practically do nothing on an average flight.:sarcasm:..How about Arby's! Adding up the 5 for 5 Dollars ain't easy:sarcasm:.

F/O = Positive Space :). j/k

I believe that the Captain, when able to, will address the media and make things clear. I'm sure he will definitely mention all his crew members hard work at assisting him in saving all those on board. Until that happens, the media will say anything and everything that they have no clue about.
