Whats going on here at FSA??

Doesn't sound like much has changed, well with the exception of there being more and more International students due to the poor economy.

6 months sounds like an individual whom does not apply himself....no excuse! Step II is COMPLETELY up to the student and how fast that individual wants to get done...not the instructors fault. Stop blaming everyone else and take responsibility for your actions.

In short, "GROW UP."
:banghead:

I do take responsibility and I am grown up. There is no doubt about that. But the facts are facts, when you show up to the flight line and sit around for hours on end waiting for an airplane what can you do? You can only sit around and do nothing for so long. Talking to the CM won't accomplish anything. I mean, if there is no planes theres no planes. Also, when I finally did get scheduled to take my stage check the check airman, SJ, called in sick. So I, being the good, motivated student that I was, arrived on time, prepared, ready to go, with no Check Airman. That's right Check Airman, that's absolutely unacceptable. So after about 45 minutes I asked DF where SJ was. "Oh, he called in sick" Ok, was anyone going to tell me this. Where's my $50 no show fee per hour? Yet again another $17.50 (charge per day in the dorms) sitting around waiting. And mind you, this was on a Thursday. So, the schedule was already made for Friday. No check rides on Saturday or Sunday. So this uncalled for delay cost me, the student, $70 of sitting around. Now, I understand people get sick, but the thing that really got to me was no one informed me that my 3PM flight was canceled. If he called in earlier that morning why wasn't I notified two hours prior? So I strongly advise you to take a close look at the operations and the future of that school. Students are leaving left and right over there. I see them and talk to them all the time. Unhappy, unsatisfied students looking for other avenues for flight training. So please, don't give me this song and dance about motivation, application, and responsibility of one self.

That happened to me once, where the check airman decided he didn't want to come to work that day, so he called out.. no one bothered to tell me, so when I showed up for my 1pm checkride, no one was there.. I asked about a $50 no show credit onto my account and NR laughed. Overall FSI has a great group of people (with the exception of a few instructors & check airmen with that "I'm better than you" mentality), but the scheduling side of the place really drops the ball.

How'd you figure that one?......

Well, less student loan availability = less American students able to attend, and with the U.S. airlines in a world of pain right now, less and less student pilots will want to jump into debt with no promise of a job waiting for them at the end.

You speak of waiting for airplanes......this extra wait that I've experienced is only 30 mins. Always a go for the flight, never had to cancel.

You spoke of 1 time that your Step II stage ck was canceled due to a Check Airmen getting sick.....what happened during the past 5 1/2 months??? Not sure how this made YOUR step II 6 months long.

It was wrong that no one informed you about the check airmen being sick...that's upper managements fault. But again, what happened in the past 6 months????

I'm standing by my initial decision.....motivation. Time to let go of your moms hand. Lots of individuals make it through FlightSafety's tough program....no complaints.

Yes, you do have a point,.... i'm a probably just a bit slow:D

I'm a check instructor and I've had students call in sick and nobody told me. It's happened multiple times. It's just a communication breakdown.

It sucks, but it certainly can't cause months of delays.

Well yeah, it was a breakdown in communication. It happens, that's life. But I was simply stating that it was another delay on top of the others.

Other delays include waiting for two instructor changes. The first time my instructor moved on to bigger and better things then FSA. That change took about a week to get organized with DM to my first flight with the new CFI. That did not work out. Seemed like the new CFI flew the plane the whole time while I merely sat there watching him blow my money. Then I went back to DM to explain to him what was going on. Then another three days to get set up with a new CFI. No complaints at all with the last CFI. Very knowledgeable!!:)

I find it very difficult to believe that the longest the other JC member has waited was a maximum of 30 minutes. Must be a primary contract student instructor. Waits on "busy days" which means days when multiple aircraft are reserved for Swiss / Asian / Irish students or are in maintenance, a wait up to 90 minutes is not uncommon. When you wait that long to go on, for example, a three or four hour cross country your return time doesn't change. So, it' impossible to complete that flight. When I first started flying I didn't care and took the plane anyways and called dispatch and told them I'll be an hour or two late. If I have to wait for a plane, why shouldn't everyone else have to. Every man for himself when it comes to getting a plane. I finally caught crap from NR about doing that:laff:... hence more delays.

Then you can add in Hurricane Fay and the other storm that came in right behind that. CRM I and CRM-II and Multi ground, Also days simply not on the schedule. Non-contract students DO NOT get on the schedule as often as contract students. If anyone in here tries to deny that you're living under a rock. So, I mean days add up.

As for my mother... she has every right to come down to FSA and speak her mind. She's the one paying 100% of my flight training. So, for those of you that have to pay over $100,000 with up to 7% interest, sucks for you because you'll be paying for the rest of your life. Starting at 25K/year. Add it up. Hummm....??

I have "non-contract" step two students and they have no problem getting an airplane. They even go not once but twice a day. Wowzers! The longest wait ive had is about 30 min to, and there is no difference between scheduling a "non-contract" student and a contract student. Its all done the same way. It seems to me that this is just coming down to pure motivation as others have stated before, or maybe you are one of those people that are just hard to deal with no matter what.

......WOW. You have just proven me right about you being "childish." Grow up. No wonder you Expected FlightSafety to just hand you a certificate....your mother seems as if she's handed you everything else. News flash....you have to earn it!! You can't have your mother buy you everything........ and why would you want to "flaunt" this?

I'm speechless.......:banghead:

You should probably just stop talking....for at least a few years

no wonder it took you 6 months to get through step 2.. when mommy and daddy pay for everything, you have no reason to get through school and into real-life.

must be nice.. now, please stop speaking.

i know schedulin at the academy puts contract students first. i graduated from fsa in january 2008 and i know from my experience that the irish get priority.my chekride waits were sometimes 1 week to 2 weeks wait. i have been signed up before irish guys and they who signed up after me was on to do there checkride before me. thats probaly one of the only downfalls of the academy to me. sometimes they were short of instructors as well when i was doin multi and when i complained i would be told the airlines are to be blamed for hiring them, what i think the academy should have done was get instructors motivated more where they would want to stay and work there like give them more pay cause they do work hard. but the training at flight safety was excellent you get what you pay for.

Not "flaunting" by any means. Like I said before T56Maniac I don't need your song and dance. I understand you don't want to bite the hand that feeds you. So, of course you and all the other instructors in here are going to defend your employer. Get some real students in here to speak their minds. Let them tell the story. Most will agree with me that things are falling apart over there.I believe I am the only one actually posting on here that was somewhat a current student. I know most are instructors in here
